Sevogle succumbs to Heat Wave!

With temperatures in the 30's for the last week the river has been reduced to trickle. Less than a week ago I had my canoe in the water!

Adam Bekhor's Hat Trick

Adam Bekhor managed to catch & release* 3 grilse, 2 in the Upper Rapids Pool & one off Percy's Rock after a good summer thunderstorm brought the river up a few feet!

*The Northwest Miramichi has been re designated catch & release until the end of July due to lower than normal Salmon returns! http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/media/npress-communique/2010/g06-eng.htm

My Daughter Caught a Fish

It rained enough for the river to come up a bit. Yael and I went down to Percy's rock and cast a green bug into the current watching it swing below us. A fish rolled a few times to the fly as it swung above the rock but it may have tasted steel so refused to be hooked. She cast into the eddy below the rock and a few casts down river a fresh grilse grabbed the fly and took off. After a spunky fight it was released at the shore!
